Mars's Moons
Mars has two moons: Phobos and Deimos


Phobos and Deimos are Mar's two small moons. They are thought to
be asteroids that have been captured.They were discovered in 1877 by
Asaph Hall. They are named in Greek Mythology, Phobos for panic and fear,
and Deimos for terror and dread.

  • It has an orbital period equal to 687 Earth days and
  • a rotational period equals to 24hrs 33mins and 22.6seconds.
  • Therefore there are 668 martian days in a martian year.
  • Mars has a very eccentric orbit that can vary from 249 million km to 207 million km.
  • Mars also experiences seasons.
  • When it is the nearest-59 million km away.
  • It can be seen with great detail even with the smallest telescopes.
